Points in DealMeIn reward three things: finishing deep, playing a big field, and getting there on few bullets.
The formula
points = √( total entries × base point / your bullets ) ÷ (position + 1.2)
- Total entries is the field measured in buy-ins — players plus rebuys plus add-ons, not a headcount.
- Base point is 5000 by default. Leagues can set their own.
- Your bullets is your own buy-in plus your own rebuys and add-ons.
- Position is where you finished. Shared places score from the shared position.
The result is rounded to the nearest whole point.
Worked examples
A night with 9 players and 3 rebuys is a field of 12 entries:
| Result | Bullets | Points |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | 1 | 111 |
| 2nd | 1 | 77 |
| 5th | 1 | 40 |
| 5th | 2 (one rebuy) | 28 |
The last two rows are the whole point of the formula: same finish, but the player who rebought spent two bullets getting there, so scores less.
Field size matters too. Win a night with 24 entries instead of 12 and you score 157 instead of 111 — same finish, tougher field.
Shared places
When a night ends in a deal — the last players split the pool and stop rather than playing it out — nobody finishes ahead of anybody, so they share the placement covering the positions they split. Three players who deal cover 1st through 3rd and all score as 2nd.
Two players busting on the same hand is not a tie: the shorter stack at the start of the hand finishes lower, and scores accordingly.
If you correct a result
Change a placement afterwards and the points are recalculated from scratch — field size, bullets and position. They are not scaled from the old numbers. A result entered wrongly becomes right, not merely less wrong.
Leagues can use entirely different scoring systems from this one. See Leagues.
